Tropical Cyclone and Heavy Persistent Rainstorm Arrangements


  • Seminars or lectures of Kaplan Higher Education, Kaplan Financial and Kaplan Language Training / Kaplan Language Center (i.e. Adult Classes) will be conducted in accordance with the prescribed teaching timetable unless a local Tropical Cyclone warning signal No.8 or above or Black Rainstorm warning signal is in force. Different arrangements will be carried out in accordance with the different scenarios addressed below: -

    If either of the warnings is lowered at or before 07:00 All morning seminars or lectures will be conducted as scheduled.
    If either of the warnings is lowered between 07:00 and 11:00 All morning seminars or lectures will be cancelled, but all afternoon seminars or lectures will be conducted as scheduled.
    If either of the warnings is lowered between 11:00 and 16:00 All afternoon seminars or lectures will be cancelled, but all evening seminars or lectures will be conducted as scheduled.
    If either of the warnings is lowered after 16:00 All evening seminars or lectures commencing from 18:00 onwards will be cancelled automatically.
    If Black Rainstorm warning signal is in force during class All class will be continued as scheduled for safety reason.


  • Other classes of Kaplan Language Center (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, SAT I, SAT II, SSAT and all primary and secondary Putonghua courses, etc.) will be suspended in accordance with Education Bureau’s arrangements for Tropical Cyclones and Heavy Persistent Rain when Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Pre-No.8/No.8 or above is issued, or when Red or Black Warning Signals are raised. Parents and students are encouraged to consult the guidelines of Education Bureau for specific details of circumstances that would lead to class cancellations.
In the event that class is required to be cancelled because of Tropical Cyclones or Heavy Persistent Rain, Kaplan will make every effort to insure that the affected lesson is rescheduled on the following normal working day. Students will be informed about the make-up schedule by email. The affected lesson material is communicated to students in subsequent lessons, or that students are able to make up the affected lesson in subsequent course sections.
